Futureworks sponsors The Gameworks
Gamers are being invited to be part of a brand new initiative that will provide a real-life, intensive experience producing Xbox 360 games in order to boost their career prospects in the industry.
The Gameworks is running a 4-week full-time summer camp that will see students of programming, design, art and audio engineering compete in teams to create and release professional quality Xbox 360 games.
Imitating a real-life games studio environment, the Gameworks has been designed specifically to test and challenge its members with demanding deadlines and realistic pressures; in order to make a significant impact upon university grades and employability after education. It also aims to equip the latest gaming talent with the skills the UK industry needs to remain competitive.
The Gameworks has today announced the first two camps which will run from June 14th to July 11th and July 19th to August 15th 2010 at Futureworks Media School in Manchester city centre. Futureworks is already home to independent games studio, Smashmouth Games.
Camps cost £300 per person or £200 per person for groups of three or more students. There are only 35 places on each camp and applicants will be rigorously scrutinised for eligibility in order to ensure an extremely high quality end product when the camp completes.
