Film-making for Fieldwork: Introduction to Documentary Film-making - A new short course collaboration between The University of Manchester and Futureworks.
Granada Centre and Futureworks join forces for Documentary Short Course
Futureworks and The Granada Centre at The University of Manchester are joining forces for the 2012 edition of their very successful short course Film-making for Fieldwork - a practical short course for ethnographic researchers and aspiring documentary film-makers.

For over 20 years, The Granada Centre for Visual Anthropology has been widely recognised as the world’s leading centre for Visual Anthropology. Its graduates have produced more than 300 ethnographic films seen around the world and it is now at the forefront of the emergent dialogue between art and anthropology, including sensory ethnography, experimental and practice-based methods, sound and performance, photographic and digital media, and art/museum installations.
The course will take place from 17 to 29 June 2012 with camera and production training taking place at the campus of the University of Manchester. All post-production elements of the course will use Futureworks' professional training and editing facilites.
The emphasis of the course will be on film-making processes rather than on product. No prior expertise will be assumed and participants will be instructed in the basic techniques of filming, sound-recording and editing. Over the duration of the course participants will work in teams of two to make 3 short documentary films.
