Game Audio Course 2012

 

Course Objectives:

A one-year introduction to and exploration of the field of Game Audio, this course teaches students the necessary skills to prepare them for employment within a games studio using tools such as Pro Tools, FMod, Unreal Development Kit and Unity.

Largely classroom and workshop based, the course feature real-world projects, scenarios and workflows in order to reflect the reality of working in game audio, complemented by a series of Guest Lectures throughout the course.

Where will this course lead me?

This course prepares students for roles such as Sound Designer and Game Audio Engineer.

• Understand the work-flows used by independent and Triple-A game studios
• No prior experience in this field necessary – learn from the ground up

Who is the course for?

The course is suitable for students with a solid understanding of sound and the studio environment, ideally those who have graduated from an Audio Engineering course (such as Futureworks’ Diploma in Audio Engineering), or a similar course in a related field.

Are there any pre-requisites?

No formal qualifications are required; however entry onto the course requires that applicants are able to demonstrate sufficient relevant experience or education in the field of Sound at interview.

When will I study?

2 x 3 hour lectures per week, plus workshop time which can be booked to suit your availability.

Which facilities will I have access to?

You will be taught in our purpose-built games labs, using game-audio ready computers featuring tools such as Pro Tools, FMod, Unreal Development Kit and Unity.

When it’s time to wind down, relax in the Futureworks lounge, or one of the many local bars and cafes.

How will I be taught?

A mix of informative lectures and workshops combined with both guided and independent study.  There is a major focus on practical projects and collaboration with students in the Futureworks’ Games Department.

Who will I be taught by?

All Futureworks tutors are experienced professionals.  As well as your main tutors, you will have regular lectures and workshops from carefully chosen visiting tutors with specialisms in certain areas.

How am I assessed?

Assessment comprises a series of real-world projects marked against industry specifications and requirements. 

What qualifications will I receive?

Successful graduates will achieve Futureworks’ Game Audio Engineering Certificate.
